About project

The project “Appropriate management for biodiversity conservation in the protected natural areas ROSCI0023 and the nature reserve 2818 Cascada Mişina” is implemented by Ocolul Silvic Năruja and is cofinanced from the European Regional Development Fund through the Operational Programme for Large Infrastructure 2014-2020.

The objective of the project is to ensure favorable conservation status of species and habitats in the site Cascada Mişina and the nature reserve of the same name, through an open, transparent and participatory consultative process aiming the elaboration of the management plan for the two natural areas and the information of the stakeholders on the benefits of conserving Natura 2000 sites. The need for the project comes from the requirement to regulate all activities within these protected areas and from the current national legislation, according to which it is mandatory to develop a management plan that is complete, functional and based on scientific data, for the targeted area.

By carrying out the activities of the project and ensuring its sustainability in the future, a major contribution will be made in solving the problems reported within the two natural areas and in achieving efficient management for the conservation of all eight species of wild animals and three natural habitats for which Cascada Mişina has been included in the European ecological network Natura 2000. At the same time, the project aims at raising the level of awareness and information among the local community on biodiversity conservation, the importance of natural resources in the area and the need for sustainable development in accordance with ecological principles.
